Press Release
Spicer writes to Environment Agency about flood defences for Pershore
Sir Michael Spicer MP has today written the following letter to the Regional Director (West Midlands) of the Environment Agency:
“Dear Mr Sitton-Kent,
As you know there is some concern amongst my constituents in Pershore about your current proposals for flood defences. There is a particular worry about the affect of building the bunds on excess surface water. I understand you are planning with Severn Trent to model the potential impact under flooding conditions and are currently confident that there will be no undue adverse affects on local residents. Perhaps you would let me know as soon as possible what the timing would be for the modelling process as my constituents do wish for this issue to be resolved as soon as possible. As this matter has been of public interest I will be informing the local press of my query to you.
Yours sincerely
Sir Michael Spicer MP”
Sir Michael Spicer today said,
“This question to the Environment Agency follows a meeting I had with senior district councillors at the Wychavon offices on Friday. Everyone concerned is very keen to bring this matter to a resolution as quickly as possible. No one wants any unnecessary delay but it is important to ensure that whatever action is taken is to everyone’s benefit.”
