Melanie was elected to the District Council at the by-election held in May 2013 overturning a previous Lib Dem majority to win the seat. A farmer's daughter from East Yorkshire she has had a very succesful career in Marketing and Advertising moving to Malvern in 1998 to be closer to her husband Tony's ageing parents.
In 2000 her husband was taken ill and Melanie gave up her career to spend time with him at the same time starting her own small business which has since flourished and now employs in excess of fifty people locally.
In addition to her role within the Council she is actively involved with various charities in the area including Rotary and Action for Children
Melanie has a particular interest in supporting people back into employment especially those with disabilities working closely with Job Centre Plus, Remploy and Deaf Direct.
