Anthea McIntyre

MEP for the West Midlands
Anthea became an MEP in December 2011 under the provisions of the Lisbon Treaty, having fought the 2009 European Election as the third candidate on the Party's West Midlands list. She had topped the Members' Ballot to determine the ranking of new candidates and was placed third on the list behind the region's two sitting MEPs.

Very experienced in politics, Anthea has been an active officer in the Conservative Party from branch to national level. She gained valuable experience as a Parliamentary Candidate in the West Midlands region (Warley West 1983; Redditch 1997; and Shrewbury and Atcham 2001) and served for 8 years as a County Councillor in Herefordshire.

Anthea is a director in MCP Systems Consultants, an independent consultancy specialising in business intelligence systems, which provide executives with the information needed to manage their business and improve performance.

She lives with her husband, Frank Myers, in Herefordshire where she is also a partner in the family's agricultural small-holding. She is active in her local community and is a former County Secretary of the Federation of Small Businesses.

Anthea is a member of the European Parliament's Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs Committee, and is Deputy ECR Group Coordinator on Employment and Social Affairs.
